Practitioners met to discuss process for speeding up housing approvals under Proposition 123.

Last week, the RMP Regional Housing Roundtable and a group of economic development and housing practitioners got together to figure out what a process for speeding up housing approvals (90-day fast track) would need to look like in order for cities to access funding through Proposition 123.

What was accomplished in this session?

The group identified that they need more information from the state about what steps would need to happen within 90 days. They also talked about the potential for developing an affordable housing conditional use permit.

No conversations have been had by this group about whether municipalities will opt in to the proposition.

How did this session come to be?

At the last RMP Regional Housing Roundtable session, the Roundtable determined that a workgroup should convene to develop a shared definition for what an expedited housing approval process (90-day fast track) would need to look like for municipalities to access funding through Proposition 123.

Next Steps

After they get more information from the state, they will meet again to discuss what they found out.
