Project 8: RMP Housing Roundtable

What Is The Goal Of This Project?

This project is to convene and facilitate the RMP Regional Housing Roundtable in order to foster a regional approach to increasing the availability and accessibility of attainable housing.A place for local government staff and housing authority leadership to identify opportunities for an improved regional approach to improving access and availability of attainable housing.

The RMP Regional Housing Roundtable is a place for local government staff and housing authority leadership to identify opportunities for an improved regional approach to improving access and availability of attainable housing. This group is a-political and focused on the effective implementation of enacted policy.

How Did The Roundtable Come About?

  • In 2022, partners through RMP identified an opportunity to host a conversation with local government and housing authority staff leadership to scope if there were opportunities for improved coordination between efforts underway throughout the region to improve access and availability of attainable housing.
  • This group begun to identify and prioritize what opportunities could potentially exist for a stronger regional approach.
  • Once Proposition 123 passed in November, they prioritized gaining clarity regarding the components of Prop 123 as their initial area of focus. This was chosen as the initial area of focus largely due to the lack of clarity felt regarding what implementation of Prop 123 would need to look like.

The 90 Day Fast Track Approval Process Project

The first area of work prioritized by the Roundtable is to develop a shared definition of the “90 Day Fast-Track Approval Process” component of Proposition 123. Click the button below to learn more about this project.

The Role of Elected Officials

Elected officials play a critical role in the work happening though RMP to increase the access and availability of attainable housing. On March 2nd, 2022 from 4:00-6:00 PM, the Roundtable will host the first session designed for state representatives, county commissioners, and city council members to come together to:

  1. Hear about the current state of housing throughout our region and hear firsthand from impacted community members and practitioners
  2. Learn about the work of the Housing Roundtable and their initial areas of focus (gaining clarity on components of Prop 123, including the 90 Day Fast Track Approval Process)
  3. Take a deeper dive and have questions answered regarding Prop 123
