Regional Council being confirmed for effort to address the opioid crisis

Title: Regional Council being confirmed for effort to address the opioid crisis

A Regional Council is currently in the process of being confirmed to lead the ‘Addressing the Opioid Crisis‘ effort Specifically, this council will work to prioritize regional work to address the opioid crisis in alignment with the state-wide joint framework and begin distributing litigation settlement funds in a way that will have the most impact on the opioid crisis.

Who will Comprise the Regional Council

The Colorado Opioids Settlement Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) provides requirements and recommendations for the types of stakeholders who should serve as voting members on the Regional Council. These include city or county staff or elected officials representing the county, municipalities, public health department, human services, law enforcement, and municipal/county court.

Participating sectors have been asked to nominate one representative to start, so that the initial group can convene by the end of April to make official determinations on what the infrastructure of that group will look like, including the process for engaging additional Regional Council members and an Advisory Committee (including community members with lived experience).
