This fall, the passage of the bond for Adams 12 Five Star Schools marked a huge win for the district and our community, signaling a renewed commitment to advancing public education.
With 54% of voters in support, Issue 5E will leverage $830 million to provide critical updates in all school buildings (including roofs, plumbing, heating and cooling, parking lots, paint, furniture, and school connectivity), fully rebuild Thornton High School, build a central food warehouse and scratch kitchen, and expand space for more CTE offerings.
RMP Civic Influencers helped mobilize the community. Their engagement – rooted in their own lived experiences and that of their peers – helped to amplify the importance of investing in education. Civic Influencers worked tirelessly to educate over 4,522 peers, families, neighbors, and decision makers about the long-term benefits these measures will bring to ensure more young people are meeting the milestones needed to be upwardly mobile.
Our Civic Influencers attended 25 community events, created social media content and emails reaching over 8,385 people, secured seven endorsements from local decisionmaking bodies, talked to voters over the phone, and went door-to-door to have real conversations with community members. By connecting with voters on a personal level, they were able to break through the noise and showcase how these measures would benefit every person in the community.
This win is not just about better schools; it is about more young people meeting the milestones they need to be upwardly mobile. With the passage of 5E, we are looking forward to a brighter future for the Adams 12 Five Star Schools community.
