This fall’s election is about more than just individual measures—it’s about our collective future. At Rocky Mountain Partnership, we are striving to help 71,000 more young people in our region reach key Cradle to Career milestones toward upward mobility by 2030. To achieve this goal, we work to advance policy initiatives that break down systemic barriers preventing children and young people from reaching Cradle to Career milestones.
The measures on this year’s ballot are critical to ensuring that we provide the resources necessary for our region to thrive. Below you’ll find a deep dive into one of the measures on your ballot, Issue 1A.
Empowering Our Learners and Workers, Advancing Our 71K Goal
This November, Adams County voters have a crucial decision on the ballot—Issue 1A: Housing Affordability. This measure is not just about housing; it’s about securing a brighter future for our community and achieving our shared goals for the next generation.
At Rocky Mountain Partnership, we are committed to helping 71,000 more young people in our region reach critical cradle to career milestones by 2030. Issue 1A will help us achieve this goal by addressing a critical barrier to cradle to career success – housing affordability.
The Challenge
In Adams County, we are facing an ongoing housing crisis:
These challenges directly affect education, skill development, and employment, which are critical for achieving RMP’s 71K target.
How 1A Will Help
By generating $22.2 million annually through a modest 0.15% sales tax increase, Issue 1A will create 6,000 more housing units over 20 years, focusing not only on new construction but also on improving existing homes.
This investment will help:
- Boost Educational Success: Reducing housing instability allows young people to focus on their education, increasing graduation rates and reducing dropouts.
- Strengthen Our Workforce: With more affordable housing options, workers can live closer to their jobs, reducing commute times and turnover while increasing productivity.
- Enhance Economic Prosperity: Providing housing options at a price point people can afford creates pathways to homeownership, stabilizes families, and supports long-term economic growth.
