This fall, Adams County rallied around Issue 1A, a measure that would have addressed housing affordability by funding initiatives to expand and improve housing at a price point our learners and workers can afford and create pathways to homeownership. While the measure did not pass, the dedication and passion of everyone involved in the campaign, especially our Civic Influencers, made a lasting impact on the community.
Throughout the campaign, Civic Influencers were deeply involved, raising awareness about the importance of housing affordability for Adams County’s workforce and families. They educated over 1,474 community members on the potential of 1A to bring about transformative change in housing affordability, which helps boost educational success, strengthen our workforce, and enhance economic prosperity.
Our Civic Influencers were present at community events, engaged in media interviews, created social media content and emails that reached over 11,244 people, secured two endorsements from local leaders, and connected directly with voters through phone outreach. They shared personal stories and meaningful insights, highlighting how housing affects all areas of community well-being.
While the results may not have aligned with our hopes, the relationships and awareness built during this campaign provide a foundation for future advocacy efforts. The need for housing at a price point people can afford remains, and we are committed to working alongside our community to address housing affordability.
