Belt Credentials and Certifications

RMP provides belt recognition and certificate credentials to recognize various levels of staff training and experience, and demonstrated application with continuous improvement. This belt system is used across continuous improvement networks all over the country and internationally. Belt recognitions and certificate credentials recognize understanding and competence in using the tools key to the Continuous Improvement process. Below are the belt recognitions and certificate credentials offered through the RMP Institute.

White Belt Recognition This is an introductory level belt for people who understand the basics of Continuous Improvement. To receive white belt recognition, one must attend ‘Intro to Continuous Improvement’

Yellow Belt Recognition This belt is designed to prepare individuals to serve as effective team members on a Continuous Improvement effort. To receive yellow belt recognition, one must attend a full day Level 1 training (usually ‘LEANing Into Results Oriented Work’).

Yellow Belt Certification This belt certification is designed to honor effective team members on a Continuous Improvement effort. To receive yellow belt certification, one must attend a full day Level 1 training AND be a team member of a successfully completed Continuous Improvement effort, in addition to demonstrating key yellow belt competencies.

Green Belt Recognition This belt is designed to prepare individuals to lead comprehensive Continuous Improvement efforts. To receive green belt recognition, one must attend a full day Level 1 training, be a team member of a successfully completed Continuous Improvement effort, AND attend Level 2 training.

Green Belt Certification This belt is designed to honor effective leaders on a Continuous Improvement effort. To receive green belt certification, one must attend a full day Level 1 training, be a team member of a successfully completed Continuous Improvement effort, attend Level 2 training, AND lead one successfully completed Continuous Improvement effort, in addition to demonstrating key green belt competencies.

Green Belt Methodologies Expert This belt is designed to honor leaders who utilize different types of Continuous Improvement tools as they lead Continuous Improvement efforts. To receive green belt methodology expert certification, one must attend a full day Level 1 training, be a team member of a successfully completed Continuous Improvement effort, attend Level 2 training, AND lead three successfully completed Continuous Improvement efforts, , in addition to demonstrating key green belt competencies in different methodologies.

Black Belt This belt is designed to honor leaders who continue to utilize different types of Continuous Improvement tools as they lead Continuous Improvement efforts. To receive black belt certification, one must attend a full day Level 1 training, be a team member of a successfully completed Continuous Improvement effort, attend Level 2 training, AND lead five successfully completed Continuous Improvement efforts, in addition to demonstrating key black belt competencies..
